Indiana University Facilities

Assembly Hall 

Home to the Indiana University basketball teams, this 330,000 square foot facility is also available for wrestling, volleyball, and multi-purpose use. Temporary office space, press room areas and a gift shop are located on the lower level. Assembly Hall seats up to 17,466. 

Memorial Stadium

Indiana University's Memorial Stadium has served as a model for stadium construction since the opening game in 1960. Significant improvements have been made through the years, the most recent being the addition of the new North End Zone facility. The stadium seats 52,000.       

Bill Armstrong Stadium

Opened in 1981, Armstrong Stadium is a natural grass soccer facility that meets NCAA and FIFA standards and is surrounded by a 1/4 mile cinder track, home to the IU Little 500 Bicycle Race. Facilities include a state-of-the-art 50-seat press box, locker rooms, concession area and public restrooms. Armstrong Stadium seats up to 5,000. 

Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center 

Located in IU's Student Recreational Sports Center, this 44,651 sq. ft. facility has hosted numerous swimming and diving events including USA Swimming, NCAA and Big Ten events. Features include an eight-lane Olympic-size pool and the Billingsley Diving Center, one of the nation's few diving towers with two one-meter and three-meter springboards as well as one-, three-, five-, seven- and 10-meter platforms. Seats up to 800.     

Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse 

The Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse is home to IU indoor track and field meets and has hosted both the Men's and Women's Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships. The 200-meter Mondo Super-X track has eight sprint lanes and six lanes all around for longer distances. The facility boasts two long jump/triple jump pits, four jump runways, two pole vault areas and two shot-put/weight throw areas. The fieldhouse seats up fo 1,600.

HPER Building 

Located in the heart of IU's campus near the Indiana Memorial Union, the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Building houses facilities for a variety of sports activities. Highlights include 10 basketball/volleyball courts, 12 racquetball/squash courts, 10 outdoor tennis courts, three multi-purpose gyms and two simming pools with one diving well.     

John Mellencamp Pavilion 

This multi-purpose 100,000 sq. ft. facility is used by several IU teams for inclement weather practices and serves as the home of the IU Field Hockey team. Named after local singer/songwriter John Mellencamp, who gave the lead gift on its construction, the pavilion features an Astro-turf surface with inlaid football markings. The regulation-size football field is seven yards from the wall on all sides. The structure's height accommodates kicking and punting as well as batting and golf practices.     

IU Tennis Center 

The IU Tennis Center has been the site of the ITA Women's Collegiate Summer Circuit National Championship and four Big Ten Men's Tennis Championships. With a seating capacity of over 600, spectators are assured a quality view of any one of the 10 outdoor courts. Indoor facilities include eight courts, locker rooms and seating for 300.    

Robert C. Haugh Complex 

This state-of-the-art complex includes the nine-lane, 400-meter Billy Hayes Track, featuring a Mondo Super-X surface and double field event areas. Full Musco lighting makes the venue suitable for television origination. The Daktronics scoreboard features a Finish Lynx scoring and timing system.  Seats 3,100 with permanent seating, or up to 7,000 with mobile seating. 

Student Recreational Sports Center 

This 204,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose sports and fitness center is located on the northeast side of the IU campus. The center features five basketball/volleyball courts, six outdoor tennis courts, three multi-purpose gyms and nine racquetball/squash courts including two championship glass courts. Other highlights include an indoor elevated jogging/running track, cycle-fit studio and free weight area. The Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center is also located inside the SRSC.   

Sembower Field 

The site of all IU home baseball games, Sembower Field was constructed in 1958. The complex has undergone several renovations in recent years, including new dugouts, a new press box and new fencing around the outfield and backstop areas. Seats up to 2,250. 

IU Outdoor Pool 

The IU Outdoor Pool features three pool areas. The heated Olympic size swimming pool has 10 lanes and the diving well is equipped with four one-meter boards, two three-meter boards and a full 10-meter diving platform. The facility is available for competitive use from March 1 through Sept. 30. This venue has hosted several swimming invitationals, regional diving championships and an exhibition of the Olympic Diving Team.

IU Golf Course 

Built in 1957 and designed by Jim Soutar, this facility includes an 18-hole championship course, a nine-hole executive course and a lighted driving range. A state-of-the-art practice facility was added in 2002. The IU Golf Course plays host to Indiana Section PGA events as well as collegiate tournaments. The course has also hosted nine Big Ten Championships and is a IGA-PGA member facility. Yardage: 6,891  Rating: 72.4  Par: 71 

Bloomington & Monroe County Facilities

Twin Lakes Softball Complex 

Featuring four regulation size softball diamonds with covered dugouts, this facility has been host to numerous National ASA Softball Championships, Indiana State Softball Championships and the USA Women's Team Olympic Showcase. Amenities include a two-story multi-purpose building with observation deck, a picnic area and a playground. Temporary SportFence II is available for youth events. Seats 200 at each diamond. 

Twin Lakes Recreation Center 

Conveniently located off Highway 37 at Second Street, adjacent to the Twin Lakes Softball Complex, this facility is Indiana's premier multi-use sports facility. The 98,000 sq. ft. facility houses five regulation size basketball/volleyball courts, each with dedicated scoreboard and shot clock. Other highlights include an indoor Astro Play soccer field, a full weight room and cardio workout facility, Subway restaurant and concession area. Seats 200 at each court and 500 at the soccer field.

Karst Farm Park 

Located just two miles off Highway 37 in the heart of a scenic 120-acre park, this facility features six full-size lighted fields and one practice field. All fields are irrigated and offer excellent Bluegrass and Rye playing surfaces. Other amenities within the county-owned park include picnic areas with shelters and a climate-controlled conference room. Seats 200 at each field.

Winslow Sports Park 

This multiple-use outdoor facility features two 300-foot high school regulation baseball diamonds, four 200 foot baseball/softball diamonds and six standard size tennis courts. The facility has hosted several ASA National Youth Softball Tournaments and Babe Ruth Baseball Championships. Seats 200-500 at each diamond and 150 at each tennis court 

Lake Monroe 

Created in 1963 by the Army Corps of Engineers and operated by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Lake Monroe contains over 10,700 acres of water and is partially surrounded by several thousand acres of Hoosier National Forest lands. Lake Monroe is home to several fishing tounaments throughout the year. Sectioned into idle and speed zones, the lake is ideal for rowing, triathlons or endurace events and adventure races. Several sailing regattas are also held at the lake each year. 

Lake Lemon 

Located 10 miles northeast of Bloomington off State Road 45, Lake Lemon contains 1,650 acres of water and over 25 miles of shoreline featuring many ridges and ravines. Lake Lemon is the home of the Indiana University Rowing team, which has developed a head course as well as a 2,000 meter bouyed course on the lake, allowing the facility to host races throughout the year. The 2,000-meter course has been laid out so that spectators can view the entire race from Riddle Point Park.

Hoosier National Forest 

The Hoosier National Forest has become one of Indiana's premier locations for outdoor recreation. Activities include hiking, fishing, boating, cross-country backpacking and more. A great venue for adventure races, the HNF hosted the Planet Adventure 30-Hour Challenge with Lake Monroe in 2001 and 2002. The race featured a 90-mile course including hiking/trail running, flatwater canoeing, mountain biking and orienteering/navigating. 

Cascades Golf Course 

Located in Upper Cascades Park, the first nine holes of this golf course were acquired in 1927 and holes 10-18 were added in 1929. White sand was added to the bunkers in the mid 1990's and the Ridge Course, featuring nine brand-new holes, was dedicated in 2002. Cascades Golf Course features 249 acres of tightly manicured rolling fairways, a driving range, snack bar, pro shop and clubhouse. The course is an IGA-PGA member facility.  Yardage: 6,130  Rating: 109  Par: 71 

Eagle Pointe Golf Course 

Located just 10 miles south of Bloomington and Indiana University, Eagle Pointe is commonly billed as Indiana's premier full-service golf resort. The 18-hole PGA Championship course was designed by Bob Simmons and constructred in 1973.Other highlights include a full service golf pro shop, driving range and practice greens. Eagle Pointe is a IGA-PGA member facility.  Yardage: 6,605  Rating: 73  Par: 71 

 

Classic Bowling Lanes 

Located on the north side of Bloomington, Classic Bowling Lanes features 32 lanes with electronic scoring, billiards tables, a game room and lounge. Classic Bowling Lanes has hosted several youth tournaments including the Ohio River Zone of the Keystone Junior Bowlers Tour.

 

Suburban Lanes 

Located on the north side of Bloomington, Suburban Lanes is just minutes from the IU campus and features 24 bowling lanes with electronic scoring, billiards tables, a game room and lounge. Suburban Lanes has hosted the YABA Junior Bowling League tournaments and other special youth bowling programs. 

 

The Back Alley at IMU 

Located within the Indiana Memorial Union, The Back Alley is home to the Indiana University Men's and Women's Bowling teams. The facility features 12 bowling lanes with electronic scoring, ten billiards tables and a game room. On-site catering is available. 

 

Bloomington Skate Park 

Completed in 2004, the Bloomington Skate Park is located near the Highway 45/46 Bypass, just off Kinser Pike. The facility features all the terrain of a suburban landscape for inline skating and skateboards.

Multi-Purpose Facilities

Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center 

Located in downtown Bloomington, the Convention Center features 24,000 square feet of space with free parking, on-site catering and audio-visual services, banquet facilities and private rooms. The Center's Great Room can be utilized for multiple types of events.
