Fall Family Fun in Bloomington

Posted in: Family Fun Comments

Rock climbing wall It seems the norm these days for most school systems to offer a reprieve in the middle of October, a fall break they call it. Kids and teachers need a couple days (or in some cases a full week or more) to recharge. For most families, it's not quite long enough to take a full-fledged vacation. Or, in the case of our family, we blew our vacation money on a big summer trip. The best option for fall is a quick getaway that won't break the bank. Luckily, Bloomington is a quick drive from wherever  …

Welcome Home IU Alumni!

Sample Gates in Fall Some of us are lucky enough to call Bloomington home year round. Others made Bloomington their home for just a handful of years while they studied - and grew up, and broadened their horizons, and fell in love, among other things. Bloomington was a temporary stop for most IU students, but likely one that made the biggest impact on their lives. So every year, IU and Bloomington invite these adopted sons and daughters back for a celebration, a reunion, a homecoming. Fall in Bloomington & on th …

So I'll keep it simple ish, and you can fill up your social calendar with cool stuff to do that's completely free. Make your Btown getaway ultra-affordable with these hotel discounts. OF MICE AND MEN: Go see it now

Posted in: Arts & Culture Comments

Of Mice and Men Cardinal Stage Co Kind of on a whim, a friend and I bought season tickets to Cardinal Stage Company (shoutout to their 50%-off deal for those of us under 35!). Last night I saw their first show of the season, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, and left feeling very happy with my investment in the arts. I might be one of the only people who wasn't assigned the book in high school English class. But the fact that I haven't read it didn't affect my enjoyment of the play, and maybe even helped. I was riveted th …

When our city's population doubles in size as the IU students come back, so does the list of events. Add to that the fact that fall is arguably the most gorgeous season here, and you can understand why narrowing down the list of September events was challenging. But here are ten events that will make you fall in love with Bloomington all over again. For all events in September, see our Events Cale …
