Fashion as art is preserved within the Elizabeth Sage Costume Collection at Indiana University. Named after IU's first professor of clothing and textiles, the Sage Collection is an exhibit of women's, men's, and children's fashion, accessories, publications, and fashion plates spanning more than 250 years.

The collection of over 25,000 items includes haute couture, military & sports uniforms, ensembles created by distinguished European & American designers, fashion sketches, videotapes, and more, offering countless research, volunteer, and instructional opportunities for students, faculty, and community members.

The Sage Collection does not have its own exhibit space; however, it does collaborate with other area museums to produce fashion-related exhibits. While the collection is primarily available to students & affiliates for study, it's also open to the public.
