Congratulations on your engagement! We know you've got lots of questions and we're here to help you plan your special day in Bloomington. Below you'll find some of the most frequent questions we receive from couples planning a wedding in B-town. Please feel free to contact Teal Strabbing at 812-355-7725 with any additional questions to get personalized recommendations on venues, vendors and more.

Why is it important to check your potential dates against the Visit Bloomington calendar?

Bloomington is home to many large special events throughout the year, including Indiana University athletic events, festivals, conventions, and youth sports events. Any of these events can tie up hundreds of hotel rooms at a time, so to make sure that your out of town wedding guests will find plenty of available space at area hotels, contact Teal at Visit Bloomington. We can help ensure that your special day isn't scheduled during the Oaken Bucket game weekend.

Are there any local bridal shows?

Yes, each year the Monroe Convention Center hosts the Bloomington Bridal Show, which showcases local wedding venues, vendors, and other related businesses.

What do I need to know about getting a marriage license?

Marriage licenses can be obtained from the Monroe County Clerk's office, located in the Justice Building at College Avene and 7th Street. Out-of-state applicants must apply for a Monroe County license. Indiana residents must apply for a license in a county in which at least one applicant resides. Application fees are $20 for Indiana residents and $62 for out-of-state couples. Same-sex marriage is legal in Indiana.

Are same-sex weddings welcome in Bloomington?

Absolutely! Same-sex marriage is legal in Indiana, and Bloomington is widely known as one of the most LGBTQ-Friendly cities in the country.
