Hoosier Sports Corporation
The Hoosier Sports Corporation (HSC) was founded in 1987 under the name Hoosier Amateur Sports Corporation (HASC). The HASC was formed to support sports tourism in the Bloomington and Monroe County area. In 2006, the organization's name was officially changed to the Hoosier Sports Corporation so as to include professional sporting events in the scope of the organization.
Each year, the HSC is directly involved in hosting or assisting with over 20 sporting events. Since 1987, the HSC has helped host a variety of events including more than 20 ASA Nationals and numerous NCAA and Big Ten competitions. HSC involvement with events of this caliber has resulted in millions of dollars in economic impact to the Bloomington and Monroe County area.
The HSC is a division of Visit Bloomington. Representatives from businesses across Monroe County serve on the board of directors and advise the HSC. Representation from the Indiana University Athletic Department, Monroe County School Corporation, Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and Monroe County Parks Department provides invaluable input and feedback regarding the most successful strategy to foster economic impact on the Bloomington and Monroe County area.
