IU’s 24 varsity teams boast one of the nation’s best overall records, capturing 24 NCAA titles over the years. In addition, IU offers a wide range of recreational sports facilities which are open to the public for a fee and are free to students.
Bloomington is also host to the annual IU Little 500 Bicycle Race which was featured in the classic 1970’s bicycling movie “Breaking Away.” The Race has been called the greatest collegiate weekend in the country.
