Accessibility Resources

City of Bloomington

The City of Bloomington is an accessible community that provides many programs and services promoting participation of people with disabilities. The Council for Community Accessibility (CCA), a commission through the city, is a volunteer group that advocates for the interests of people with disabilities. The CCA promotes awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities, and works to develop solutions to problems of accessibility in the community.

Indiana University

Indiana University is committed to maintaining inclusive and accessible environments across all campuses and eliminating discrimination against people with disabilities. Ensuring that all members of the university community have access to facilities, information, and information technology associated with administration and services, coursework and instruction, programs, and university-sponsored activities is critical to the educational mission and is among IU’s highest priorities.

There are various options to move throughout Monroe County, including Rural Transit, BT Access, and Indiana University's bus system. Each transportation system serving a different area and the accessible needs of the community.

Mobility Aids Lending Library (MALL)

MALL serves the greater Bloomington community by taking donations for canes, crutches, walkers, ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), rollators, scooters, and wheelchairs. Those items are then made available for people in need.
