Annual Bloomington Hospitality Awards

Presented on May 16th

 

Several area businesses and individuals among those honored.

 

Bloomington – The 6th Annual Bloomington Hospitality Award were presented during an open house at the Bloomington Visitors Center on Friday, May 16. The Hospitality Awards are presented each year during National Tourism Week by the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) to highlight the local tourism industry.  

 

Tourism is the world’s largest industry, and a vital part of this area’s economy, employing nearly 4,000 people in the Bloomington area. Each of these tourism industry employees works hard every day to ensure that visitors have a positive experience when they come to Bloomington. Visitors to Monroe County account for over $250 million in economic impact to the community each year. The Hospitality Awards are a way to recognize and thank local attractions and individuals that help make Bloomington and Monroe County a great place to visit. This year’s award winners are:

As part of the celebration of National Tourism Week, the CVB also sponsored a tour of several local area attractions on Thursday, May 15th. The tour was open to employees from the area’s lodging industry and served to highlight attractions that hotel guests might be interested in visiting during their stay in Bloomington. Participants in the tour were able to visit attractions both in the community and on the IU campus to learn more about what visitors to the Bloomington area might experience. Attractions that provided tours to the group included the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center, the Monroe County History Center, the Lilly Library, the IU Auditorium, the IU Art Museum, the Kinsey Institute and the Oliver Winery.
