Bloomington – The Hoosier Sports Corp is pleased to welcome participants in the 2009 AAU Girls’ Super Regional Basketball Tournament to the Bloomington area this weekend. The event will take place Friday through Sunday, bringing 40 girls’ basketball teams between the ages of eight and 16 together to compete for qualified spots at this year’s National Tournament.

The Hoosier Sports Corp is the sports marketing arm of the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Director of Sports Development, Eric Marvin is excited to welcome this event back to the Bloomington area. “We are very pleased that this is the sixth straight year that Bloomington will host a Girls’ Super Regional event through AAU. Nearly 500 participants will be in the area along with their coaches, parents and fans, creating a significant impact on the local economy. Participants should be visible around town throughout the event as they visit local shops and restaurants. Please help us make them feel welcome. ”

The AAU Girls’ Super Regional will be held at the Bloomington SportsPlex. Of the 40 participating teams, only two are from the immediate area, with 25 coming from throughout Indiana and 13 from outside the state. The tournament is open to the public and spectators are welcome. The action starts at 7:30 pm on Friday with pool play games. Saturday features pool play games from 8:30 am until 9:30 pm and bracket play begins on Sunday at 8:30 am, concluding at 6 pm.
