Bloomington Welcomes the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water

The group’s annual Spring Conference will bring approximately

200 attendees to the Bloomington Convention Center.

Bloomington – The Alliance of Indiana Rural Water is bringing their annual Spring Conference to the Bloomington Convention Center, beginning March 16. 2009 marks the sixth consecutive year that the group has met at the Convention Center, bringing approximately 200 attendees to the Bloomington area.

The conference brings together board members, clerk-treasurers, office personnel and operators from cities, towns and utilities across the state of Indiana. With part of the president’s economic stimulus package focused on water and wastewater infrastructure repair and projects, the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water conference is more important than ever. Attendees are facing choices on what products and services to use for improvements to their systems and are looking to the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water conference for the opportunity to meet with multiple vendors in one place. Vendors, in turn, are looking for a place to meet and speak with many current and potential customers at the same time. This conference fills both needs. According to alliance of Indiana Rural Water spokesperson Laura Vidal, “We are looking forward to our best conference yet!”

Julie Warren, the Director of Convention Sales and Services with the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau, says “This conference has been held in Bloomington for the last several years and has a great turnout each year. They love the downtown location and great customer service that the Convention Center offers.”

The estimated economic impact of this group’s visit to the area is $48,800.
