Indiana Heritage Quilt Show Returns to Bloomington

This year’s show features a record number of quilts on display and an expanded merchant’s mall.

Bloomington, Ind. – Now in its 19th year, the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show (IHQS) continues to offer a unique experience for both quilting enthusiasts and anyone who simply appreciates the artistic nature of quilting. This year’s show will take place March 4-6 at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center.

The IHQS is proud to feature over 225 quilts from across the United States. The IHQS is pleased to announce the inclusion of four submissions from junior quilters this year, ages 7, 8, 9 and 12. Each beautifully quilted creation will be vying for a portion of $15,000 in cash prizes and awards. Winners will be chosen in each of 10 judged categories, including appliqué, pieced, fabric art, wall quilts, mixed technique and small scale. This year’s feature special exhibit is entitled The Pilgrim/Roy Invitational Quilt Challenge and is sponsored by Hancock’s of Paducah and Hobbs Binded Fibers.

Other features of this annual quilting extravaganza include special events, workshops taught by nationally-known quilt teachers, and an expanded merchant’s mall. Several quilt related exhibits will be held in conjunction with the quilt show, at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, the Monroe County History Center and other area museums.

The Indiana Heritage Quilt Show will be open to visitors from 9 am to 6 pm on Thursday and Friday and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday. Admission to the show is $7 for adults and $2 for children ages 7-12, children ages six and under are free.
