New Bloomington/Monroe County

Outdoor Adventure Guides Now Available

The first in a new series of Adventure Guides focuses on the area’s three lakes.

Bloomington – The Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau has recently released the first in a series of new Adventure Guides focusing on outdoor recreation in the Bloomington area. The new format of the Adventure Guides allows for several focused brochures promoting specific types of outdoor recreation rather than including all of the area’s recreation opportunities in a single piece. Whimsically subtitled “Splash!,” this first brochure focuses on the recreational opportunities available at the area’s three lakes; Lake Lemon, Griffy Lake and Lake Monroe.

Along with general information about each lake and detailed lake maps, the Splash! Adventure Guide contains information about boating, fishing and swimming along with contacts for adventure guides that are available for hire in the area.

Bloomington is one of Indiana’s premier outdoor recreation destinations, a claim backed by its inclusion on the most recent National Geographic Adventure Magazine list of the Top 50 Great Adventure Towns in the nation. Home to Indiana’s largest lake, the Hoosier National Forest, two state forests and several city and county parks, Bloomington offers visitors a wide array of outdoor recreation options. As this new series of Adventure Guides continues to be developed, additional outdoor recreation topics will be explored and added to the series. Future Adventure Guide topics may include, but are not limited to, hiking, biking and bird watching.
