10 Swell Events in Btown for September, 2015

September in Bloomington comes in like a lion and out like an even bigger, more socialized lion. When our city's population doubles in size as the IU students come back, so does the list of events. Add to that the fact that fall is arguably the most gorgeous season here, and you can understand why narrowing down the list of September events was challenging. But here are ten events that will make you fall in love with Bloomington all over again.

For all events in September, see our Events Calendar.

Hillbilly Haiku - Sept. 4

Upland Brewing Co.'s annual Americana music festival takes place at their popular brew pub in downtown Bloomington. Sip award-winning beer while listening to some of the best grassroots music the Midwest has to offer. This year's lineup includes Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys, T.V. Mike & the Scarecrows, Glass Mountain, and headliner Larry Keel Experience.

Who's the guy you call when you've got problems with your love life? Figaro, the whipsmart Barber of Seville, can fix anything -- and he's got a new assignment. Count Almaviva and the lovely Rosina are nuts about each other, but her crusty old guardian wants to marry her himself. Giuseppe Verdi called this opera by Rossini the greatest comic opera ever written, and you'll agree as you enjoy this wonderful season opener from the renowned IU Opera.

There's always live music, good conversation, and of course home-grown Indiana produce.
