IU Summer Music Festival details announced

Mark your calendars now for the 2009 IU Summer Music Festival! The annual event features more than 50 free and ticketed events from June 21 to August 11. The variety of events offered range from the collegiate opera premiere and chamber music to percussion and outdoor Summer Band concerts. Collegiate premiere The Light in the Piazza

The highlight of this year's festival is the IU Opera Theater's production of The Light in the Piazza by Adam Guettel with performances on July 31 and Aug. 1, 7 and 8 in the Musical Arts Center (MAC). The production will be guest conducted by Dan Riddle, the associate conductor of the Broadway original, which received several Tony Awards.

Some events are free and some require tickets. A limited number of Festival Passes, discounted by around 50 percent, are offered to the general public. Tickets and Festival Passes will be available beginning May 11.
