St. Patrick's Day 2016 events
Categories: Wine & Culinary
In a foodie town like Bloomington, St. Patrick's Day mostly means one thing: good food and drinks. Since it's happening over spring break here (IU and all the schools pretty much take it at the same time), there will be ample downtown parking and shorter wait times at restaurants. We love our IU community, but we don't mind a respite from the hustle and bustle now and then.
We'll be keeping track of the local shamrock-flavored events and meals happening in this post, so check back as March 17 gets closer.
The Irish Lion
Doors open at 11am. Traditional Irish fare, bagpiper, party favors & giveaways, Guinness, Jameson, & more. T-shirts, hats, shot glasses, necklaces, and more while supplies last. Slainte! (cheers!)
Bloomington's oldest brewpub will be closing for renovations March 13-16, and it reopens on St. Patrick's Day with a special Irish menu that includes scallop & fish chowder, reuben, corned beef brisket, stout beef stew, roast salmon fillet, and ginger bread cake. The special menu will be served from 4-9pm or as supplies last.
For an authentic Irish five-course dinner, Chef Bob Adkin will prepare corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, oat cakes, and soda bread, plus Guinness beer and Jameson Whisky cocktails. $49 per person (not including drinks). Space is limited, so call for reservations at 812-323-0002.
Serving cocktail specials including $5 Irish coffees and mojitos using their own spirits and liqueurs. Open 4-10pm.
Big Woods Bloomington
