Bloomington Comedy Festival

Independence Day "Reverse" Parade

Date: Saturday, July 3

Location: Indiana University Memorial Stadium

Attendees will enjoy a "reverse" parade, driving by stationary parade floats and displays.
 

Fourth of July Fireworks Show

Date: Sunday, July 4

Location: Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina on Fairfax Beach
Admission: In-state residents: $7.00, out-of-state residents: $9.00

Enjoy a fireworks show at the Fairfax State Recreation Area

Due to flooding and wet ground, parking is very limited. The Fairfax gatehouse will close to all entry except Inn & Marina patrons as soon as all available public vehicle and boat trailer parking spots are filled. The gate will re-open to normal operation after the fireworks show is over.
 

A Fair of the Arts

B-Town Hot Summer Nights Festival

Location: Monroe County Fairgrounds
Admission: Ages 18+, $30.00 per ticket; ages 8-18 and 65+, $20.00 per ticket; ages 4-7, $10.00 per ticket.

Enjoy a backyard BBQ competition, live music, and food from local vendors at B-Town Hot Summer Nights. One-hundred percent of the festival's proceeds will be split among several community organizations, including The Warehouse, Special Olympics Indiana, and Volunteer Associates, Inc.

The Art of the Character: Highlights from the Glenn Close Costume Collection

Eight-time Academy Award-nominated and three-time Emmy- & Tony-winning actress, Glenn Close, has donated her collection of 800+ costume pieces from various roles she's played during her career, including Cruella de Vil in 101 and 102 Dalmatians, to the Eskenazi Museum of Art at IU. "The Art of the Character" exhibition explores the art of developing a character with a focus on the creativity and skills of the designers & makers, as well as the collaborative process between Close and the artists who help bring her characters to life. 
 

Grant Street Inn 30th Anniversary Exhibit

Location: Fountain Square Mall
Admission: Free

To celebrate their 30th anniversary, the Grant Street Inn is showcasing a special exhibit at Fountain Square Mall. The exhibit shares the story of saving the historic Ziegler House by relocating it and transforming it into what is now the inn. The display includes 18 canvases, 10 informational plaques, and a video.
 

See Her Run: Monroe County Women in Politics

Date: Every day through Thursday, September 30
Time: 10:00 am-4:00 pm
Location: Monroe County History Center
Admission: Free

The Monroe County History Center commemorated the Women’s Suffrage Centennial in 2020 with a year-long exhibit highlighting the activities and contributions of local Monroe County women for local, state, and federal suffrage. In 2021, they continue to focus on the contributions of Monroe County women in local and state politics with the See Her Run exhibit, which features artifacts, documents, and photographs from the museum collection that trace the difficult defeats and historic victories of women in local politics.
