Waitress: March 31 - April 1 | IU Auditorium | 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Making its Bloomington debut, the fun and contemporary Broadway hit Waitress arrives at IU Auditorium next spring. Brought to life by a groundbreaking, all-female creative team, this Tony Award-nominated show features original music and lyrics by seven-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles (“Love Song,” “Brave”), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam), and original direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland).

Influenced by traditional South African music and originating in the 1960s, the five-time Grammy Award-winning singing group Ladysmith Black Mambazo continues the legacy of singing of peace, of love, and for everyone to live in harmony. The group has collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, Emmylou Harris, Melissa Etheridge, and many others.

This year’s tour features a collection of the most inspiring action, environmental, and adventure films from the festival. Traveling to exotic landscapes and remote cultures, paddling the wildest waters and climbing the highest peaks, bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2019/2020 World Tour is an exhilarating exploration of the mountain world. From approximately 400 films entered into the annual festival, award-winning films and audience favorites are among the films chosen to travel the globe.

In addition to performing live, Birbiglia is an author and filmmaker who wrote, directed and starred in the films Sleepwalk With Me (which is based on his New York Times bestselling book) and Don’t Think Twice. As an actor, Birbiglia has appeared on Billions and Orange Is The New Black as well as in the films Trainwreck and The Fault in Our Stars.

Ford hosts Profile by Buzzfeed News and is the former host of Brooklyn-based news and culture TV show and podcast 112BK. Her work can be found in The Guardian, Elle, Buzzfeed, OUT Magazine, Slate, Teen Vogue, New York Magazine, and Indianapolis Monthly. Ford has been named one of Forbes Magazine's 30 Under 30 in Media (2017).
