Well-Known Artist Norton Wisdom at Upland Brewing Company and The Player's Pub!

Categories: Arts & Culture

On Friday March 6th Upland Brewing Company will be hosting world-renowned artist Norton Wisdom in the banquet hall located at the back of the parking lot. Enjoy the amazing artwork of Wisdom and the new 2009 batch of Infinite Wisdom Tripel from Upland!

Nelson Wisdom is the artist featured on the new brew's label, as well as the namesake of the delicious brew. Upland Mug Club Members will receive two free pints of Tripel at the event and muncies from the restaurant will be available as well.  Stop by to try out the new brew, meet the artist and perhaps purchase one of his works. Check it out at www.nortonwisdom.com.

That's not all, though - the very next day you can see Norton Wisdom perform at The Players Pub in collaboration with the Willie Waldman Project. Wisdom has a unique style of painting where he paints during a live music performance. He will create several different pieces during a show, painting directly on a piece of illuminated fiberglass or window glass. When he's finished, a photo is taken and then he wipes it clean to start a new creation. Wisdom paints to the music and his creation is a response to the music that is played. It adds a whole new visual experience to any musical performance.

But this isn't just any musical performance. The Willie Waldman Project is a collaboration of world famous musicians. Willie Waldman, a ground-breaking avant jazz trumpeter, has performed with the likes of Banyan, Phil Lesh's Tellstar, Sublime, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac. Joining him will be the drummer from moe, Vinnie Amico, along with other accomplished musicians.

Wisdom's live painting has become famous after performances with Cirque du Soleil, the 2002 Winter Olympics opening ceremony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Butoh dancers in Japan, the National Bamboo Orchestra in Bali, in addition to musicians such as Nels Cline of Wilco, Charles Owens, Badal Roy, Rob Wasserman, Daniel Lanois, Ivan Neville, George Clinton, Beck, Jaguares, and Lili Haydn. Tickets are on sale now at The Players Pub. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door - hurry, this show is expected to sell out quickly!
