The Indiana Limestone Company is offering a very rare opportunity for the public to experience the real-time operations of the Empire Quarry hole - the actual site from which the stone from the Empire State Building was extracted.

Indiana Limestone Company is the biggest Indiana Limestone quarrier and finished goods fabricator in the nation.  Participants will see ILC's modern extraction methods and understand their focus on safety and efficiency, understand their plan to be the first Indiana Limestone quarrier to meet the criteria of the Natural Stone Council as a Sustainable Quarry, tour the modern finished goods fabrication mill and see their new, state-of-the-art automated line, and experience the Urban Hardscapes outdoor display.

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Call the Bloomington Visitors Center at 812-334-8900 or 800-800-0037 to sign up. The cost is $20 per person, and must be paid in advance (in person by check, cash or credit card, or over the phone by credit card). No refunds will be issued if reservation is cancelled.

This tour requires closed-toed footwear.  Please bring water, sunscreen, and wear clothing that is appropriate to be indoors and outdoors.  A waiver will need to be signed in order to participate.  If you do not have closed toed footwear you will not be able to participate in the tour.

The tour will begin promptly at 10:00am at the Bloomington Visitors Center (2855 N. Walnut Street).  From there, the group will board a shuttle to and from the quarry.  Please arrive before 10:00am to ensure a prompt start time.  Attendees can expect to be back at the Visitors Center no later than 2:00pm.
