Giving Back to Africa invites you to our 6th Annual 2017 Gala | Congo: Continue the Story - Creative Transitions! Join us as we enjoy the live African music, beverages, appetizers, silent auction, African Market and local artist exhibition.

[ABOUT OUR EVENT]
Come and enjoy some live music performance by Dr. Betty Dlamini and Mrs. Comfort Keli and as you enjoy, you can purchase or bid on items from the African Market, silent auction and artist exhibition. During the event, there will be beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks and heavy appetizers served. The main highlights of this year’s Gala are the unique African Market and silent auction with items procured from local businesses and various African arts and crafts brought over by our team from the Democratic Republic of Congo. New to this year’s Gala is the local artists exhibition, featuring painting, linocuts, clay/ceramic, fiber, and jewelry artworks from local artists here in Bloomington.

[ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION]
Giving Back to Africa (GBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the long-term mission of educating young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through partnerships with local Congolese educational institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Our goal is to empower Congolese youth through grassroots community-based, service-centered education to become servant-leaders capable of taking control of their own lives while serving as change agents in their local communities.

[ABOUT LAST YEAR’S (2016) GALA]
The theme of the 2016 Gala was the Students' Learning Gardens that the students have been developing at their school for many months--they are growing healthy, edible plants for their families and the community. 45% of DR Congo's population has malnutrition, and these gardens will address the issues of malnutrition and food security.
