In a continuous effort and need to access slowness, zakkiyyah najeebah dumas o'neal reconsiders her relationship to self-fulfillment and desire through landscapes she's visited over the past year. In response to a series of notes from writer and filmmaker Kathleen Collins' diary, she repositions herself outside of the constraints and obligations of time to reflect on loving, longing, dreaming, and the effortless nature of being, when one is able to access retreat.

zakkiyyah najeebah dumas o'neal is the inaugural Engaged Artist in Residence at the Gayle Karch Cook Center for Public Arts and Humanities.
