Bloomington, Ind. - Visit Bloomington has announced the winners of its tourism marketing grant funding for 2016 events. In its eighth year, the grant program will provide $40,000 to 13 organizations for events taking place throughout 2016. The grant was developed to help promote and enhance new and existing events through marketing and advertising, targeting audiences outside a 50-mile radius of Monroe County. Each application was judged on a variety of criteria, including ability to draw attendees from outside Monroe County, ability to increase hotel occupancy, and placement of event during non-peak times of the year. The 2016 winners are:

  • Limestone Comedy Festival (June 2-4): $5,000
  • Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana Balloon Festival (September 11-13): $4,500
  • Artisan Guilds of Bloomington Holiday Show (November 6-7): $4,400
  • Middle Coast Film Festival (mid-August): $4,200
  • Arts Fair on the Square (June 18): $4,000

  • Cardinal Stage Company holiday show (late December-early January): $1,500
  • Hillbilly Haiku (Labor Day weekend): $1,500

"This grant is providing opportunities for audience development for each event but also overall growth to the local tourism industry, which will impact more than just these events."
