Bloomington Celebrates National Tourism Week

The Bloomington CVB will honor the area’s hospitality workers on Friday, May 16th
with the presentation of their annual Bloomington Tourism Awards.

Bloomington – National Tourism Week will be celebrated in communities across the country this week and Bloomington is no exception. The Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau is celebrating with the presentation of their annual Tourism Awards.

The Bloomington Tourism Awards are presented each year in a number of categories to honor the 4,000 individuals that work in the local hospitality industry and the hundreds of businesses and attractions that help make Bloomington a wonderful place to visit. From hotels and restaurants to museums and art galleries, every aspect of the Bloomington community contributes to creating a positive visitor experience for the thousands of travelers that breakaway to Bloomington each year.

Tourism is a vital part of the local economy. In fact, visitor spending accounts for more than $258 million in economic impact to the area each year. This year’s Tourism Awards will be presented on Friday, May 16th during a celebration at the Bloomington Visitors Center. As part of the celebration, the Bloomington Visitors Center is hosting an Open House from 11 am to 2 pm. The event will include a free cookout, prizes and the Tourism Awards presentation, which will begin at 1 pm.
