Bloomington CVB Presents Annual Hospitality Awards

Several area businesses and individuals among those honored.

Bloomington – The 7th Annual Bloomington Hospitality Awards were presented on Thursday, May 14th during a reception at the new Showers Inn. The Hospitality Awards are presented each year during National Tourism Week by the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) to highlight the local tourism industry.

Tourism is the world’s largest industry, and a vital part of this area’s economy, employing approximately 4,000 people in the Bloomington area. Each of these tourism industry employees works hard every day to ensure that visitors have a positive experience when they come to Bloomington. Visitors to Monroe County account for over $250 million in economic impact to the community each year. The Hospitality Awards are a way to recognize and thank local attractions and individuals that help make Bloomington and Monroe County a great place to visit. This year’s award winners are:

Participants in the tour were able to visit attractions both in the community and on the IU campus to learn more about what visitors to the Bloomington area might experience. Attractions that provided tours to the group included the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, the IU Athletics Complex, the Bloomington Cooking School, Downtown Bloomington, Inc., Textillery Weavers and WonderLab.
