Bloomington Welcomes the Porcelain Art Exhibit and Show

BLOOMINGTON – The Porcelain Art Exhibit and Show will make its first ever stop in Bloomington on April 15th-17th.  The event will be held at the Bloomington Convention Center and the exhibit is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Porcelain artists from all over Indiana and beyond will display, sell and demonstrate their work.  Hand painted porcelain ribbons selling for $5 each will support breast cancer research.  The art exhibit is a chance to see how “China Painting” has evolved over the last 2,000 years.  The featured guest artist, Filipe of Portugal, will demonstrate the painting of a variety of flowers on twenty-five 12” plates, which will then be auctioned off.  Kiln firing is included.  Special demonstration times are Thursday, April 15th from 3:30-5pm & Friday, April 16th from 6pm-8pm.  There are also several other demonstration classes available for a small entrance fee.

The Director of Convention Sales and Services for the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Julie Warren, states, “This great event showcases a unique form of artistry.  The porcelain exhibit will add to the variety of art events in Bloomington.”

The estimated economic impact of this show’s visit to the area is $36,600.
