IU Summer Music
Indiana University's Summer Music provides a great way to enjoy Bloomington from mid-June to mid-August. With an array of orchestral, jazz, chamber and outdoor band concerts, a fully-staged production produced by IU Opera Theater, as well as frequent student and faculty recitals, there is something for everyone.
Annual highlights include the Festival Orchestra, one of the finest orchestras in the Midwest, featuring outstanding students and distinguished faculty members of the IU Jacobs School of Music under the direction of world-renowned conductors. Jazz doesn't get any hotter than with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, as it extends a vibrant tradition of historically authentic jazz performances, as well as with the Festival Jazz Orchestra, which features the very best students and revered faculty members from the Jacobs School. Some of the globe's finest musicians, such as the Beaux Arts Trio and the Penderecki Quartet, perform in the extensive Chamber Music Series. The popular sunset band concerts on the MAC lawn are always a hit!
