The Lotus Education & Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Bloomington, Indiana (est. 1994). Its mission is to create opportunities to experience, celebrate, and explore the diversity of the world’s cultures, through music and the arts. Lotus provides exciting year-round programming for Bloomington residents and visitors, including the flagship annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival -- a multi-day indoor/outdoor spectacle that fills the downtown streets every fall with the sounds and sights of the world's best performing artists from around the globe. During the rest of the year, Lotus offers its Lotus Blossoms Educational Outreach program for students and the general public; visual arts events, exhibits, and workshops; the annual Edible Lotus gala; and other special programming and events with community partners. The organization is named partly in honor of Indiana musician Quinten Lotus Dickey (1911-1989). His spirit of open inquiry into the music of cultures other than his own—and his gifts as a musician, singer, and songwriter — inspired the founders. See the Calendar of Events for this year's Festival dates and other Lotus activities, and don't forget to check our Special Offers page for great lodging deals.
