Sure, we didn’t have to make a visitors guide just for our LGBTQ friends. Bloomington is open to all and it always has been. But we put together this carefully crafted booklet for one reason – the LGBTQ community here has helped shape this city’s culture, and we want to share it with everyone who will listen. The PRIDE Film Festival began in 2003 and is one of the oldest queer film festivals in Indiana, with three full days of movies and parties at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in the heart of downtown. Indiana University is consistently ranked among the most LGBTQ-friendly campuses in the country, most recently by Campus Pride. The Back Door hosts all kinds of events every night of the week, from drag shows to lip-sync battles to The Queer Cabaret. Pridefest brings in thousands of people of all ages for an epic street party right on Kirkwood Avenue.
We love to give stuff away to our fans and followers, so we have contests pretty much all year long.
