Festivities

Just a couple blocks away on the courthouse square, another favorite Bloomington festival will take place from 10 am to 6 pm. The annual Arts Fair on the Square, now sponsored by the Bloomington Playwrights Project, features a variety of beautiful and functional creations from local and regional artisans.

The annual waiter/waitress race pits the best of Bloomington's restaurant service professionals against one another for a year's worth of bragging rights! Each team of servers competes to see who can complete the obstacle course quickly and without spilling the beverage they're carrying. The first team to complete the task and pop the cork on their bottle of champagne wins!  The race will take place at 4 pm.

All Smiles Clown Company will be on hand for face painting fun for a small fee of $5.

The following children's activities will be available for kids of all ages in front of City Hall, from 5-8 pm. There is no charge for children's activities:

Wonderlab Museum of Science, Health and Technology invites you to learn about the science of food and music with fun and surprising hands-on activities.  Use sound waves to move water, learn what happens to food in your stomach, make your own musical instrument and more.

Make a Frog Mask: We all know how people eat, but now see if you can eat like a frog! Make a crazy frog mask, complete with a working "frog tongue", then see if you can catch a fly!

The Mysterious Spouting Bowl: An all-time favorite of kids and adults alike, see if you can create sound waves in the Mysterious Spouting Bowl that actually causes water to splash.

Test your Taste: See if you can fool your sense of taste by using your nose! Learn how our sense of smell affects our ability to taste as you sample apples and make them taste like other things.

Bloomington Parks & Recreation invites you to get up, get out and get active by participating in a variety of games and activities at the Taste of Bloomington!

Octopus, Ink. - David Weigand is Octopus, Ink., a one-person entertainment business focusing on (but not limited to) magic and balloon twisting. He performs for children at birthday parties, community events, school fairs, corporate functions, summer camps, family reunions, etc. David will be twisting balloons for kids during Taste while supplies last.

Indy East Inflatables will be on hand with inflatable fun in the form of a bounce house and blow up twister!
