Not so long ago, saving seeds was an important part of gardening. Favorite strains were renewed from year to year and generation to generation. The annual Wylie House Heirloom Seed Sale features over 50 historic varieties of flower, vegetable and herb seeds, dating to pre-1850.

Held at the historic (and unique) Woolery Limestone Mill, the Bloomington Craft Beer Festival brings together craft brewers from around the region to celebrate great local beer and good music in a fun, unique setting. The event is sponsored by the Brewers of Indiana Guild.

Little 500 Weekend

IU Bloomington's signature spring event, made famous by the movie Breaking Away, pits collegiate bicyclists against one another in an exciting race. Called the greatest collegiate weekend in the country by many, Little 5 includes both men's and women's races.

Enjoy Bloomington's finest talent with the Bloomington Parks & Recreation Summer Performing Arts Series featuring Tuesday lunch concerts in Peoples Park and evening concerts in Waldron, Hill & Buskirk Park and Bryan Park. The Open Studios Tour invites art lovers into the studios and work spaces of local artists. The tour takes place on a Saturday and Sunday in spring and features over 40 artists. Guests can watch artists demonstrate their creative processes in their own studios, and there's no cost to attend.

Limestone Comedy Festival

The Limestone Comedy Festival brings well-known comedic acts to Bloomington to perform at local venues. The main venue for the event is The Comedy Attic on 4th Street. Join us in June for a few days of fun and laughter!

USA International Harp Competition

This world-class international harp competition seeks to promote and foster the careers of gifted young harpists from throughout the world. Performances are open to the public and many are free.

Indiana Limestone Symposium

Whether you're an experienced sculptor, a beginner or just a spectator, this event is for you! All levels of carvers are invited to participate in one of two sessions. Spectators are encouraged to visit during open house days and learn more about limestone. 

IU Summer Music Festival

The Indiana Festival Theatre is the summer professional theatre for the IU Department of Theatre and Drama. Performances take place at the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center on the campus of Indiana University Bloomington.

This annual event features tours of six unique private gardens, selected to represent the many aspects of gardening, and the flower show at the Monroe County History Center. Featured gardens change from year to year.

Enjoy a traditional parade through downtown Bloomington, live music and more! Check local listings for area fireworks displays to top off your celebration. Fireworks are often shown at Monroe Lake and nearby Ellettsville.

Experience a traditional summer county fair! You'll find carnival rides, 4-H and community exhibits, livestock shows and, of course, lots of yummy fair food. Special events taking place during the fair might include concerts, races, rodeos or even a demolition derby!

Middle Coast Fest

Late July, Buskirk-Chumley Theatre
An interactive film festival, working in conjunction with the Bloomington community to provide access to both filmmakers and film audiences alike. Middle Coast provides multi-day screenings of short and feature-length films. There are panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and multiple networking events at local studios, restaurants, and bars.


Grant Street Jazz Fest

B'town Jazz Fest

This fun event showcases the amazing jazz talent in Bloomington and features outstanding high school and college musicals, as well as leading professionals from the area. The event is put together by B'town Jazz. 

Bloomington Blues and Boogie Woogie Piano Festival

The Bloomington Blues & Boogie Woogie Piano Festival is an annual music and dance festival in Bloomington, Indiana featuring the world's best blues and boogie woogie piano players along with professional dancers, food and beverages.

IU Homecoming Weekend

Each year, the Alumni Association goes all out to welcome Hoosiers back to Bloomington! There's nothing better than a fall weekend in Bloomington. Special events include a parade on Friday evening, followed by a pep rally at the Sample Gates, a giant tailgate party and more! Alumni can even sit in on a class or two to re-live their days as an undergrad.


Glass Guild Holiday Show

The Local Clay Potters' Guild, Bloomington Spinners & Weavers Guild and Bloomington Glass Guild are all together under one roof for one of Bloomington's biggest holiday art shows, featuring local and regional artists in the

Krampus is the old Alpine legend of the feisty companions of St. Nicholas, who punish the naughty kids while St. Nick rewards the good ones. In this lively outdoor winter festival, breathtaking handmade costumes bring this tale to life, with lots of interaction and maybe even a lesson about the importance of being good. It's a great free, family event that puts a new spin on some holiday stories we already know and love.
