Visit Bloomington celebrates the local travel and tourism industry with the annual Tourism Week, May 18-22, 2015. The week will feature a variety of activities and programs highlighting the importance of tourism to our local economy and helping local residents become more aware of what our community has to offer.

Tourism is a major industry in Monroe County, hosting approximately 1.84 million annual visitors who directly support 4,163 jobs. Visitors come for personal and business reasons, and while they're here they take advantage of the arts and culture, outdoor recreation, restaurants and IU events. Tourism Week is a chance to honor all the tourism professionals who make Bloomington a great visitor destination. Learn more about the impact of tourism in Bloomington.

Tourism Week

It's also a chance for local residents to rediscover their community through the visitor perspective. It's easy to take for granted how powerful of an economic driver tourism is for the area. During Tourism Week, we encourage locals to explore these resources and share in the celebration of how tourism positively affects all of us.
