Monroe Lake 60th Anniversary Celebration

On October 24, 1964, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dedicated Monroe Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the state of Indiana. Designed as a flood mitigation and low-flow augmentation project, the reservoir also serves as the water supply for the City of Bloomington, attracts over 1 million recreational users each year, and supports the habitat needs of numerous species, including the iconic Bald Eagle. In 2024, we celebrate the reservoir’s 60th anniversary, with a variety of events hosted by our partners throughout the summer and fall!
31st Annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival

Lotus Festival 2024 will showcase over 25 different artists and groups from around the globe where you can expect unique opportunities and experiences that may broaden your worldview through the arts.
Annual Hilly Hundred Bicycle Tour
Date: Friday, October 4 through Sunday, October 6
Location: 601 Edgewood Drive, Ellettsville, IN 47429

If you like a bicycling challenge that includes entertainment and fellowship with more than 5,000 cyclists from over 40 states and several foreign countries, the Hilly is for you. This three day event (with two days of riding approximately 50 miles each day) is held in the scenic hills of southern Indiana. There is no on-site registration.
Lotus in the Park

Enjoy an afternoon filled with free outdoor performances by Lotus Festival artists, and family fun including interactive visual arts activities and local food truck offerings. Bring a folding chair or a blanket, and prepare to have fun! Visit the Lotus activity table and learn about featured festival artist, Carina Leiva.
Science Fest

The mission of IU Science Fest is to celebrate and inspire curiosity among Hoosiers of all ages by providing exciting hands-on experiences with science, by promoting meaningful and direct exchanges with scientists, and by highlighting scientific research and teaching at IU.
Makevention
Date: Saturday, October 12

Makevention is an exhibit and celebration of the maker spirit in Bloomington. Come see the inventive and creative passions of your community! Maker culture includes a wide range of activities, including 3D printing, textiles, woodworking, and games. It unites people from various backgrounds, from home-based inventors to production companies, who like to build things and embrace problem solving, transforming ideas into tangible forms.
BloominGrass Festival
Date: Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19

Location: Buskirk-Chumley Theater

BloominGrass is a new mini music festival taking place at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater for one night only, featuring some of the most exciting music in contemporary folk and bluegrass. The Bloomingrass headliner is Sam Bush. Special guests can be viewed here.
Hoosier Hysteria
Date: Friday, October 18
Location: Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall
Admission: Free
Hoosier Hysteria Scrimmage presented by Smithville will begin with player introductions, two quarters of an intra-squad scrimmage from the women's team, a half of an intra-squad scrimmage from the men's team, and a message to the crowd from both head coaches. Following the scrimmages will be the opportunity to meet the team, takes photos, and get signatures from their favorite Hoosiers.
IU Homecoming Weekend
Date: Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19

We might be biased, but Homecoming weekend in Bloomington is one of the best times of the year—it’s a chance to reconnect with friends and relive your favorite IU traditions. The IUAA hosts events throughout the weekend, including the parade on Friday evening and a tailgate on Saturday. Join us Oct. 18–19 for IU Homecoming 2024.
Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology Grand Opening
