Visitors are always welcome on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. To avoid citations, visitors must either use a pay facility, park at a meter, or obtain a visitor parking permit. Visitor Daily Permits 

Visitor permits are issued daily and can be obtained at the Bloomington Visitors Center, the Indiana Memorial Union, IU Residence Halls or the Office of Parking Operations. Visitors may also use one of several metered parking areas or pay parking facilities on campus.

Metered Parking on Campus

All meters on the IU campus accept only quarters, dimes and nickels. Meter rates are 15 minutes per quarter, ten minutes per dime and five minutes per nickel. Meters are enforced on weekdays from 7 am to 10 pm. IU Parking Operations has designated the following seven meter lots on campus for visitor use only.

The following general use metered parking locations are available to visitors as well as students faculty and staff. They are also enforced on weekdays from 7 am to 10 pm, except for the Wells Library meters, which are enforced 24 hours a day.

Parking Facilities 

You may choose to park in a pay facility to avoid the hassle of obtaining a daily permit. There are five pay parking garages on campus. All open at 7 am and close at Midnight or earlier. Rates are dependent on the length of time used, beginning at $1 for 30 minutes. There is a maximum rate of $24 per day. The maximum rate is reduced to $6 when entering a garage after 5 pm.  



Atwater Garage

Located at Woodlawn and Atwater.  

IMU Parking

Woodlawn and 7th Street. Ideal for visiting the Indiana Memorial Union, Tudor Room and the Fine Arts Plaza.  

Jordan Avenue

Jordan Avenue, near 7th Street. Ideal for visiting the Jacobs School of Music, IU Theatre and Drama and the Neal Marshall Center.  

Poplars Garage

Entrance on 6th Street, near Dunn Street. Ideal for visiting the Sample Gates and Old Crescent area of campus.  

11th & Fee Garage

Located at 11th Street and Fee Lane. Ideal for visiting the Kelley School of Business and the IU Arboretum. 













Free Parking 

There are certain designated days and times when parking is absolutely free on the Indiana University campus. This means no permit is required, nor does it require you pay the meter or the parking attendant.
