Herman Wells Statue

  • IU Campus, near the Rose Wellhouse
  • Bloomington, IN 47404
This life-sized bronze sculpture of former Indiana University president and chancellor Herman B Wells was created by artist Tuck Langland in 2000. Wells was an IU legend whose association with the university spanned eight decades, dating from his days as a student to his death in 2000. The statue serves as a reminder that Wells was instrumental in the transformation of a small Midwestern college into a major research university of international renown, all without sacrificing the friendly, hometown atmosphere that makes the Bloomington campus so special.
