This 200,000-acre national forest encompasses nine counties in South-Central Indiana.. The portion in and around Monroe Lake covers over 68,000 acres, including the 12,000 acre Charles C. Deam Wilderness. The Hoosier National Forest features miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, camping sites, and the amazing views from the Hickory Ridge Fire Tower. There is no admission charge to enter the Hoosier National Forest.
Biking and horseback riding permits are required for visitors 17 years of age and older. Riders must stay on the designated trails.
