Fourth of July Festivities 2018

Nothing says summer like a relaxing day on the lake followed by fireworks dancing across the sky. Independence Day is Wednesday, July 4, 2018, and there are several events planned to mark the holiday. Here’s where you can celebrate in Bloomington.



Friday, June 29

Independence Day at the Bloomington Speedway
When:  Dusk
Cost:  General Admission:  $15, Pit Admission:  $30, 12 and Under: Free


Tuesday, July 3

Btown Boom: Block Party & Fireworks at the Bloomington Trades District
When:  10pm
Cost:  Free

The block party and fireworks are an opportunity to celebrate the Bicentennial of the City of Bloomington and Monroe County while kicking off Bloomington's Fourth of July festivities. Block party starts at 4 p.m. on the South side of the Square with food trucks, music and more! Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m.

Wednesday, July 4

Fourth of July Parade

Celebrate 200 years of Bloomington and Monroe County with a Bicentennial-themed parade. Spectators are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on.  Show your patriotism by wearing red, white, and blue!  Prime viewing areas are the West and South sides of the Monroe County Courthouse Square and on Kirkwood Avenue from College Avenue to Indiana Avenue.

When: 9 am: Bloomington Community Band begins playing patriotic songs on the lawn of the Monroe County Courthouse.  The parade begins at 10 am.


Fairfax State Recreation Area at Monroe Lake

When:  10pm
Cost:  $7 per vehicle with Indiana license plate.  $9 per vehicle with an out-of-state license plate.


Ellettsville Fourth of July Fireworks

When: Dusk
Edgewood High School
Cost: Free
