Nothing says summer like a relaxing day on the lake followed by fireworks dancing across the sky. Independence Day is Thursday, July 4, 2019, and there are several events planned to mark the holiday. Here’s where you can celebrate in Bloomington.

Friday, June 28
Independence Day at the Monroe County Fairgrounds
When: Gates open at 6:00 pm, show at dusk
Cost: A donation counts as admission to the event
Start celebrating the red, white, and blue early at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 6:00 pm and there will be a classic car show happening until the fireworks show starts at dusk.
Wednesday, July 3
B-Town Boom
When: Block Party: 4:00 pm, Fireworks: 9:45 pm
Cost: Free
The block party and fireworks are an opportunity to celebrate Independence Day and kick off Bloomington's Fourth of July festivities. The block party starts at 4 p.m. on the South side of the Courthouse Square with food trucks, music and more! Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m at the Bloomington Trades District. The rain date for this event is Saturday, July 6.
Graduate Bloomington's Fourth of July Sparktacular
When: 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Cost: $12, purchase tickets here
The City of Bloomington will be launching fireworks on July 3rd and Graduate Bloomington's rooftop venue offers some of the best seats in the city. This family-friendly event comes with free parking, free food & non-alcoholic drinks and games included with your ticket. Plus, kids under 12 get in free!
Thursday, July 4
Fourth of July Parade
When: 10:00 am
Cost: Free
Spectators are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. Show your patriotism by wearing red, white, and blue! We suggest arriving early to hear the band and get a great spot. Prime viewing areas are the West and South sides of the Monroe County Courthouse Square and on Kirkwood Avenue from College Avenue to Indiana Avenue.
Ellettsville Fireworks
When: Show is at dusk
Cost: Free
Keep the Fourth of July Festivities going in Ellettsville at their firework celebration. The event will take place at Edgewood High School. Should there be issues with the weather, the alternative date is Sunday, July 7, 2019.
Friday, July 5
Fireworks at the Bloomington Speedway
When: Show starts directly after the evening's races
Cost: General Admission: $15, Students: $10, Kids 12 and under: Free
Independence Day Fireworks Celebration at Lake Lemon
When: Dusk, 9:00 pm
Cost: $10/vehicle
The beach and beach parking lot will need to be cleared at 4 PM. In the event of a rainout, the fireworks will occur the following day on July 6th.
