When it comes to the Solar Eclipse, safety is a top priority. The links below contain information regarding viewing the Eclipse safely and overall eye safety. Also, there is a list of suppliers that are selling safe solar filters and viewers as well as information on temporary food vendor permits.

County-Wide Safety Message Opt-In System for 2024 Solar Eclipse

The opt-in system will be used only for sending priority text messages regarding public safety issues during the eclipse. Examples include notice that “a dangerous incident is occurring near the intersection of Walnut and…” or “I-69 is currently at a standstill. Please ensure you have gas before getting on it.” Starting on April 5all Monroe County public safety departments, visitor/tourism entities, and public agencies are encouraged to tell people to text “MoCoEclipse” to 226787 to opt-in to the messaging. All opt-ins will be removed on April 10.
