In Light Human Rights Documentary Film Festival 2024: Trauma and Healing

In Light 2024 invites you on an immersive journey into the powerful intersection of human rights, captivating narratives, and the art of documentary filmmaking. Experience eight thought-provoking documentaries that explore the profound link between social and political trauma and mental health. From the heart of motherlands in Africa to historic struggles worldwide to narratives of individual struggles, each film promises an intimate lens into compelling stories of resilience, empowerment, and healing. Doors open at 12:30 PM and seating is general admission.

BANFF Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour

Date: March 30-31, 2024       

Time: Saturday 7:00 PM, Sunday 5:00 PM

Location: Buskirk-Chumley Theater

As one of the largest adventure film festivals in the world, the BANFF Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour features films celebrating adventure, exploration, and the great outdoors. Traveling to remote vistas, analyzing topical environmental issues, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports the 2023/2024 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world. Join IU Outdoor Adventures when Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour brings the spirit of outdoor adventure to Bloomington, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater at 7 PM on March 30 (doors open at 6) and 5 PM on March 31 (doors open at 4). Raffle prize drawings at intermission!

Bloomington Indiana Film Festival

Location: The Bishop Bar

Bloomington, Indiana has a rich film industry. The Academy Award-winning film Breaking Away was released in 1979. Since then, Bloomington has been the leading movie-making city in the state and region. While Bloomington is a small town, the optimistic and communal values of the residents carry into films. We aim to continue to enrich the traditions of Bloomington and Indiana Cinema. BIFF's mission is to show local and regionally produced films on a global stage.

Asian American & Pacific Islander Movement Short Film Festival  

Date: April 11, 2024 

Time: 7:00 PM

Location: IU Cinema

The AAPI Movement Short Film Festival's goal is to showcase and uplift minority voices of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and provide an opportunity and place for Asian art and cultures to shine through eight short films. Following the screening of the films, there will be a Q&A with various filmmakers. Join us for an enlightening night highlighting the intersection and multi-layered identities within and among the Asian community through stories of heartbreak, pain, resilience, and joy.

Montage Film Festival

Location: IU Cinema        

Montage Film Festival is IU's annual celebration of student-produced films. It features a showcase and award ceremony with over 10 categories, including Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best in Show. This year, it will be held at the IU Cinema on April 26th at 7pm.
